Here comes winter!!

Well the cow bells have stopped ringing, there's snow on the mountains already, and it's freezing! The mountain bike has been put to the back of the shed and we're digging out our winter stuff. Our winter bookings have been selling very quickly, we're now full until Feb and only have about 5 empty weeks left between the two chalets so if you want a week with us get in quick! We're looking forward to what's already promising to be a fantastic ski season..

As promised, summer has well and truely arrived with temperatures over 30 degrees for the last few weeks. The mountain biking season is also well underway with the 'pass portes du soleil' weekend another big success, and the chatel mountain style...well..that's just madness....

Summer is coming!

Summer? Ok, so you wouldn't think it at the moment. I'm busy trying to get enough wood together to build an ark, as the famous Alpine spring rain has arrived, and boy has it arrived! But that will soon be gone and the rain will be replaced by splendid sunshine for the start of the summer season in June. I've already had the mountain bike out a couple of times and can't wait for the lifts to reopen so that I can stop all this cycling uphill nonsense. Holiday wise the summer has been going great for us and we only have a couple of weeks in August left available. Of course, theres more to do in summer than just mountain bike. We are pleased to say that we have signed up for a second year to the Portes du Soleil multipass scheme. Only accommodation providers that have signed up and paid into the scheme are able to sell the tickets. Our guests can use their multipasses to get unlimited access to all the swimming pools, tennis courts, ski lifts (on foot only) tourist trains, and ice rinks in chatel and the rest of the portes du soleil for just €1 per day. Now thats value! There are other things being added to the passes for this summer but the tourist offices are just ironing out the details, although one thing that has been agreed is that mountain bikers who purchase a mountain bike lift pass will be given multipasses free of charge...

The new addition!

We are pleased to announce that The Alpine Chalet Company will have a new addition for ski season 2010/11. Chalet Timide is a beautiful 5 bedroom ski chalet located directly next door to our other chalet, chalet simplet, and benefits from the same little luxuries as Chalet Simplet! An out door hot tub, a roaring open log fire, fluffy dressing gowns, toiletries, and a short stroll to the town are just some of the things the chalet can offer. It also has an extra games room on the lower floor, ideal for the kids!

Another season over!

It's the end of yet another fantastic season here in Chatel, the grass is showing through the snow, and the cows are jumping up and down with excitment waiting to be let out! It was another great season, a big thank you to everybody who was here and helped make it such a good one. The snow has been fantastic yet again, the new lift at La Linga 'echo alpine' was a hugh success, and all the new snow cannons, well, they weren't needed, again! Summer is on the way and we're counting down the days until the lifts re-open in June and the mountain biking starts....
